Right at the start of a project, Powercast provides engineering support and casting design services. Our experienced personnel assists customers in creating new castings, either from a simple idea or sketch, a part produced by another process (a weldment, an assembly, a sheet metal product, etc.), or an existing casting produced by another foundry process (for example, switching a sand casting into a permanent mold casting). Such activities can be made easier with the use of the CAD software SolidWorks.

Sand cores (chemically bonded sand used to generate a desired shape inside a casting ) can also be used to hollow out the inner sections of a casting or to produce an area with undercuts – this variant is called Semi-Permanent Mold castings. Powercast manufactures its own sand cores.
Our experience with casting designs are aided with the use of CAD program Solidworks as well as casting simulation software. We offer this service as an added-value to help our customers optimize their design and hence ensure overall costs are minimized.

Our Tool-Making department is fully equipped to handle all aspects of mold making, namely Engineering Support, Technical Design, Tooling Development, CNC Machining, and Maintenance.
Once the castings are poured, one can improve their mechanical properties by having them go through a heat treating process (ex: T6), which Powercast does with its own in-house equipment. Powercast also offers its own machining services, and can also take care of painting requirements.
